I have been working as a primary care registered nurse for five years, and it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that public health caught my attention. This interest inspired me to pursue a Master of Public Health at UNSW. Public health is such a broad and dynamic field, and while I find every aspect fascinating, my passion lies in immunisation and the economics of healthcare. I have an ambitious goal to pursue a degree in economics in the future and explore ways to integrate it with public health to help accelerate improvements in the field.
Review/Reflections on your experience as an intern with CHETRE
I was privileged to intern with CHETRE, where I teamed up with research officers to write a report to review transport planning frameworks with a focus on promoting health equity among population groups. The experience was incredible—I was supported every step of the way by the amazing CHETRE team. I gained valuable skills, both soft and technical, that will surely benefit me in my future career.
If you are considering an internship with CHETRE, I cannot recommend it enough. No matter your area of interest within public health, CHETRE likely has a project that aligns with your passion. Not only will you learn about the actual professional working environment in public health, you will build lasting connections with public health professionals.
